2019 EARLY HEARING DETECTION & INTERVENTION MEETING
In its 18th year, the EHDI Meeting has built a strong reputation for bringing together a wide variety of attendees including those who: work in state Early Hearing Detection and Intervention programs; assist in EHDI efforts on the federal level; provide screening, diagnostic and early intervention support at the state/ local level to young children with hearing loss and their families; champion Medical Home activities within each state; are parents of children with hearing loss; or are deaf or hard-of-hearing adults who are helping to expand opportunities for young children with hearing loss. EHDI Meeting participants will range from state and local programs to the federal level and from academics to families.
GOAL OF THE EHDI ANNUAL MEETING
The goal of the annual EHDI Meeting is to enhance the implementation of comprehensive state-based Early HearingDetection and Intervention (EHDI) programs. After participating in the meeting, participants will be better able to:
Identify and promote knowledge and awareness of successful strategies for implementing comprehensive state-based EHDI programs that include screening, audiologic diagnostic evaluation, early intervention, medical home, reporting, tracking, surveillance, loss to follow-up issues, data integration, and other related surveillance components.
Interpret and describe current research and research methods related to EHDI.
Examine cultural competence of providers and assess their ability to work with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, their families, and communities.
Discuss the importance of enhancing and creating new and ongoing working relationships among federal agencies, non-profit organizations, state health departments and educational agencies, advocacy groups, families, and professionals.
By registering for the Annual EHDI Meeting, all participants agree to abide by the following Principles of Participation:
The right to participate in the EHDI Annual Meeting is fundamental to ensuring open dialogue between all EHDI stakeholders. The Meeting Organizers encourage respectful dialogue as a key element of participation among all meeting participants. The EHDI Annual Meeting opposes the disruption of any meeting sessions or events that results in the inability for dialogue to take place.
The EHDI Annual Meeting reserves the right to withdraw the name badge, and therefore deny access, to participants who do not adhere to these Principles of Participation.

Welcome to APAO 2019!
The year 2003 was the last time the APAO Congress was held in Bangkok. Many things in science, art, culture, technology and so on have changed considerably since then.
The APAO Congress in 2003 was still in the era when APAO Congresses were held once every two years. It was the most successful APAO Congress ever then with more than 1,200 delegates, more than 300 submitted abstracts and more than 40 exhibitors. It was, however, surpassed very quickly by the following APAO Congresses. Fifteen years later, the latest APAO Congress in Hong Kong had more than 5,000 delegates, more than 1,500 submitted abstracts and more than 250 exhibitors. APAO Congresses have, without a doubt, become a yearly global event in ophthalmology with huge success.
The Royal College of Ophthalmologists of Thailand is proud to be part of the growing APAO. We are honored to be given this great opportunity to host the APAO Congress one more time after more than 15 years. We welcome ophthalmologists and related personnel from all over the world to the “Sciences and Arts of Ophthalmology.” While the growing success of APAO is certainly due to the strength of the scientific programs, friendship, the social part or art of academic meetings, is also slowly built up through APAO Congresses. I believe if APAO council members, speakers and delegates who attend APAO Congresses regularly through the years count the number of new friends they know from the congresses, they will find the number is enormous, or even countless.
The current President of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists of Thailand, Dr. Anuchit Poonyathalang, said in the welcome video for APAO 2019: “When our Thai hospitality meets academic spirit, APAO 2019 will bring the best of sciences and arts that ophthalmology offers.” He is certainly correct.
Let’s bring science, art and also friendship to APAO 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand.
I hope to see you all.
With warmest personal regards,
APAO 2019 Congress President

Engaging and Empowering Staff: Creating a Culture of Excellence
Clock in, clock out, repeat.
Does this sound familiar? If so, you’re not alone! Staff engagement is one of the biggest challenges facing NICU leaders today. Disengaged staff can create a toxic environment, impacting other staff and the care experience of patients and their families.
How do you transform a disengaged workforce into one that is not only engaged but empowered? And, how do you keep your staff invested year over year?
At the 2019 NICU Leadership Forum you will learn from the collective experiences of NICU leaders to advance your unit to the next level by giving you tangible strategies for success. You’ll be immersed in an energetic, thought-provoking and rejuvenating conference experience suited to both new and seasoned leaders.
Our keynote speaker, Diane Rogers, is known for her positive, collaborative, strengths-based leadership style, encouraging individuals & organizations to “think differently” to create effective, inventive programs designed to cultivate a culture where caring, human experiences occur.
At the 2019 NICU Leadership Forum, you can expect:
Leadership experts who map out clear strategies for success
Numerous opportunities to network, meet and exchange ideas
