This course is designed for the neonatal clinician to understand how care giving activities in the NICU can impact the outcome and wellbeing or prematurely born infants specifically focussing on Light, Noise, Smell, Positioning and Pain management.
By the end of the course, the clinician will be able to:
- Understand how negative stimuli from Noise, Light and Smell can impact the outcome of premature infants
- Demonstrate good positioning of infants with the use of boundaries
- Discuss the importance of pain management in the NICUU
- Understand how clustering of care can benefit babies in the NICU
- Discuss pain management pain scores and their application in the NICU
